Four Year Plan

Graduation Requirements

Successful completion of a minimum of 24 units aligned to the state academic content and performance standards shall be required, for students entering the ninth grade beginning in 2009-2010 school year, to earn a New Mexico Diploma of Excellence.

For Students Entering the 9th Grade in 2009, 2010, 2011, or 2012          

English                             4 credits

Math                                4 credits (including Algebra II)

Science                           3 credits (two lab)

New Mexico History        .5 credit

World History/Geog         1 credit

US History/Geog              1 credit

Government/Economics  1 credit

PE                                    1 credit

Career Cluster,

Workforce Readiness

or Language other

than English                 1 credit

Electives                           7.5 credits

Total Credits                 24 credits

 

For students entering the ninth grade during or after the 2009-2010 school year, at least one of the units required for graduation shall be earned as an advanced placement or honors course, a dual-credit course offered in cooperation with an institution of higher education or a distance learning course.

In addition to the credit requirements, students must also pass all sections of the New Mexico High School Graduation Assessment  (NMHSGA) and have a completed Final Step Plan on file in order to receive a high school diploma and participate in the VNHS Graduation Ceremony.
